Last Monday, the boys and I headed back to the Guesthouse after an incredible road trip, (tho a day later than planned due to a flat tire).
We arrived with no problems but discovered a broken belt on the generator at the Guesthouse about 11pm which meant we spent Monday night without power...i.e. no fans and little sleep.
Tuesday, I left again but on a bigger "machine"...
I flew out to be with these two jewels for Daddy's (pretty sudden) vascular surgery.
The hospital staff prepared us Thursday morning for what they presumed would be a long surgical day. We were a bit alarmed with some of the worst case scenarios they shared. They told us that Daddy might actually wake up in the ICU and that his length of stay would be determined post surgery. We settled in and prayed and waited. (Many of you were praying with us- thank you!)
As we waited on the 2nd hour update call, we answered, instead, a call saying they were already done! After 7 stints were placed and blood flow was good, the surgery was a celebrated success. (Thank you, Jesus!)
After staying overnight, Daddy was released to go home!
That's awesome news, yes! And he's done well since surgery, "vascular-ly" speaking (praise the Lord) but those that know us well know that Daddy has also battled chronic kidney stone issues for the past several years. With that said, he's passed 26 kidney stones since coming home from the hospital Friday (11 within the first 24 hours of release) and today he's struggling with what we can only guess is another "big one".
Please pray for him. He's in a lot of pain and fighting nausea today.
He's not able to go in for his blood check this afternoon so that's been pushed til tomorrow morning.
Please pray that overall he will see a decrease in stone activity (like no more) now that his circulation and blood flow are improved. I pray for wisdom through his health care providers. In this healing time, I am praying for rest and restoration as he recovers from this recent surgery and that God will freely give mercy regarding the kidney issues, as well. In my limited understanding of how our bodies work, I rest in knowing that God, the Creator, knows and doesn't withhold the wisdom we ask for!
I am scheduled to leave Friday morning going back to Haiti. And in 2 weeks our 'little big' family will head back to the States for several months of furlough and fundraising. (I so look forward to a little slower pace for a bit with all my peeps in one place!!)
In reflection through all of our chaos, I praise God for you - our community.
